The start is always the hardest part. We have all been there. We put things off until, the next thing we know, a few weeks, months or even years have gone by without actually starting what we set out to do.
This post is exactly that for me.
Every morning I have been waking up saying (read thinking), “I’m going to write that blog post today!”, this post to be precise. And while lying in bed to go to sleep I ponder on what it was that kept me from reaching that 1 goal I set for the day.
There’s Always Something In The Way
Last week there was a guest post on ChrisBrogan.com: 106 Excuses That Prevent You From Ever Becoming Great, I have been telling everyone I meet, work with, and Tweet to read it because we all seem to have at least 1 excuse why we haven’t done something. It was, and continues to be, a real swift kick in the butt for me.
There’s always something to do, and there will always be something to do, so why not do what it is that you are most passionate about first?
I have been reading CopyBlogger since Pubcon 2010, and one of my favorite posts 10 Steps to Becoming a Better Writer sums up what I’m working towards. It was one post in the past week that really kicked me in the butt and caused me to put starting my own business in hi gear: 6 Ways to Master Entrepreneurial Uncertainty.
I figured everyone has it all figured out, it is great to hear that they don’t.
Getting My Name Out There
Actually it was on the last day of Pubcon 2010 that I decided to start this site with the intention of just being myself and learning to blog as a way to get my name out there. Out there in more of a way than just being the co-founder and developer of TokenRock it’s social network truJournal, and the many other websites I have been the developer of. I have created some masterpieces in code and functionality that you will never associate with the name Steven Ferrino, and I have come to a point in my life where I want people to know my name.
I close this post with something I take away from Scott Stratten most likely said (I can’t find a post with the exact text so I’m just linking to the site) “You can’t be Awesome unless you actually do something!” Scott, if you want me to change it let me know… @sferrino
With that, I must go do something.
Was there anything recently that kicked you in the butt and caused you to get moving on something?
